Our usability testing lab

Our state-of-the-art testing facilities are located in our brand new offices, situated a short walk away from Central Station in Brisbane. Peak Usability uses a two room set up: a testing room and an observation room.

Test room

Testing Room Participant looking at a prototype in the test room, while the Moderator observes. Office-like setup is designed to create an informal, non-threatening, atmosphere for participants.

Built to be informal and non-threatening for participants. There are no giant mirrors or obtrusive cameras that from experience affect user behaviour, just a small room which replicates your standard office space.

The room is fitted with a standard monitor/keyboard set up for participants. It features an unobtrusive webcam, and a laptop running Morae to record a user's face and screen actions simultaneously.

Observation room

Observation Room The observation room features a computer which displays a image stream from the Test room and projects it for easy viewing. Couches and chairs provided for the comfort of observers.

Enjoy the comfort of our orange lounge in our observation room and observe sessions in real time.

Allows up to 6 developers, designers, and managers to see and hear first hand users trying to complete common tasks on their products.

Field testing

Our equipment is mobile! We can bring our technology to you, either in your office or another site*. Some of the advantages of field testing include:

  • Easier access to and recruitment of suitable test participants that fit your target user demographic
  • Can set up an observation room for your project team to observe sessions in real time

* Note subject to the ability to install usability software on your computer which meets minimum specification OR the ability to add our testing notebook to your network for Internet access.
