Tania - Principal
User Centred Designer, Usability Specialist & Trainer
Tania Lang is the principal of Peak Usability and member of the User Experience Professionals' Association. She is considered one of the leaders in her field and is passionate about usability. She has organised numerous local usability and UX events to increase awareness and adoption of good usability and user centred design practices.
Tania has been working in the online space as a UX practitioner and user experience consultant for a number of high profile clients for over 15 years. In that time she has worked on online projects for Telstra, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, Suncorp, Flight Centre, iiNet, RACQ, QSuper and numerous Commonwealth, state and local government agencies. She has experience working on websites, intranets, web applications and more recently, mobile apps and responsive websites.
Tania is also a highly regarded and experienced trainer having delivered usability training to over 1000 participants both in Australia and overseas and is a regular presenter at conferences and seminars.
She has a Masters of Business by Research which involved researching how travel consumers use the Internet. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Human Factors, a Graduate Diploma in Arts (including Marketing) and a Bachelor of Science.
David - Senior Consultant
David is a user centred design / senior usability consultant employed with Peak Usability since 2007. David developed a passion and interest for user centred design while working in a variety or online roles in state government from January 2001. Since then it has been an ongoing journey for him to improve his professional knowledge in interaction design, usability, user experience and project management.
He has led or been involved in dozens of projects while at Peak Usability and has conducted 100s of individual usability test sessions for many clients and this has given him a very good sense of how users behave on websites and where many designs fail or succeed.
David remains committed to working closely with his client partners and sharing his knowledge and expertise. He has conducted usability testing and reviews of many sites including Australian Catholic University, QUT, the new Translink Journey Planner, Brisbane City Council and Flight Centre. His recent experience has included testing and design of mobile and responsive websites and this is an area of keen interest and excitement for him.
Miranda - Senior Consultant
Miranda is an experienced usability practitioner and content writer. Her passion for user experience methodologies began while completing a Bachelor of Multimedia at Griffith University and her skills were honed during her 4 years with the Department of Education and Training where she worked on several projects that allowed her to develop her skills further, including being on the design and content writing team for the Learning Place website. In 2010 she started at Peak Usability and continues to develop and hone her skills, expand her understanding of the theories behind usability and put these theories to practice.
Miranda enjoys working to a high quality standard, and has specific skills and experience in interaction design, content writing, user research, persona and context scenario development, card sorting, information architecture, wire framing, usability testing and evaluation, paper-based and electronic prototyping and finished quality user interface design.
Miranda has conducted usability testing and design of a number of sites including the Learning Place, Library Services (DET), Logan City Council, DET Education website, Tourism Queensland, Endeavour Foundation, Heritage Building Society, Queensland Motorways (Go Via) and Workplace Health & Safety QLD.
Miranda has a Bachelor of Multimedia and an Advanced Diploma of Information Technology.
Michael - Senior Consultant
Michael is a user centred design advocate who started seeing the world through a UX filter while undertaking his Masters of Interactive and Visual Design at Queensland University of Technology in 2009. Coming from a decade long career in graphic design ensured a solid grounding to achieving success as an interface designer for award winning international digital agency Reading Room. Honing his craft creating user centric design work for clients such as UNHCR; the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet; Grains Research & Development Corporation; as well as the State Library Queensland allowed him to delve into dedicated user research based activities.
2013-2014 was spent consulting on UX projects in Melbourne for clients such as Monash University, Sportsbet, La Trobe University, and Darebin City Council. Since joining the team here at Peak Michael has been deeply immersed in qualitative research activities (and subsequent creation of intuitive information architectures & interactive prototypes) for clients such as Tatts Group, QLD Ombudsman, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, Qsuper, QTAC, The University of Queensland, Griffith University, James Cook University.
A love of working closely with people combined with a lifelong inquisitiveness into human nature translates into a genuine enjoyment for him during the discovery phases while a keen eye for detail and inclination for communicating visually makes work more like play when designing solutions for his clients.
Amber - Senior Consultant
Amber has many years experience in market research and information management. This experience has been built up through over 10 years in the market research industry (in Australia & Europe). Most recently Amber has worked as a senior consultant for global research firm TNS. As part of this role, she was responsible for information management (utilising Sharepoint) for the global international research division. Prior to that, Amber worked in various senior roles for Synovate, ACNielsen and OmniCom Research. During this time she was responsible for leading many qualitative and quantitative research projects, including project management, research and analysis, client management and presentations. Since joining Peak Usability, she has worked on projects for clients including RACQ, Flight Centre,Office of State Revenue, Suncorp, QInvest, goVia, IAG Mobile and QUT Library.
Amber has post-graduate studies in Information Science (Graduate Diploma of Applied Science - Library & Information Management). She also has a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours in Organisational Psychology) and a Graduate Certificate in Marketing. Amber is a member of the Australian and Library Information Association (ALIA) and in 2011 received an ALIA Student Award for the most outstanding student with the highest GPA.
Jamie - Senior Consultant
Over the past 12 years, Jamie has gained extensive experience improving online applications for Australia's leading brands. She redesigned the health insurance application process for Bupa, which improved the conversion rate from 2% to 10% in the first quarter. She also led the redesign team for the new Westpac Broking share trading site, which won the Financial Review's Online Broker of the Year award in 2011 and 2012.
Her other projects have included redesigning an application process for CommSec, ecommerce process for Telstra, site overhaul for Australian Broadcasting Corporation, music management system for Warner Music and streamlined online interfaces for Mitre10 and Toyota.
Jamie's specialty is transforming complex online applications into intuitive interfaces that require little or no instruction to use.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism and Marketing) with Distinction from the University of Queensland, has undertaken intensive user experience training with Sapient in San Francisco and has also coached University of Sydney students in user experience (UX) and online marketing.
Milena - Consultant
Milena recently completed her Masters of Creative Industries at Queensland University of Technology in December 2014 and discovered user experience (UX) methodologies during her studies.
She has experience with user research, usability testing, wireframe design, information architecture design, customer journey mapping and developing personas, and is excited to continue honing her skills and delving deeper into the world of UX.
Milena worked with Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) to redesign their online collection and create an engaging user experience. Milena has a passion for working with creative industries organizations on digital projects, as she finds their unique needs and constraints exciting and challenging.
Since joining Peak Usability, she has worked on projects with clients including Griffith University, Queensland Parks and Recreation, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Queensland Law Society, Queensland Ombudsman, Tatts, Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC), Wet Tropics Management Authority, and Queensland Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and Commonwealth Games (DTESB).
Milena has a Masters of Creative Industries (Interdisciplinary Studies) and a double Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Italian Studies and History of Art and Architecture).
Vicki - Accounts Payable
Vicki is our accounts person and MYOB extraordinaire and is responsible for accounts payable including invoicing, payment receipting and payroll.
